Water, like life, flows peacefully in the oasis under the watchful eye of proud oasis dwellers who are deeply connected to their ancient values. For them, water and life are inseparable; they are the sources of the same challenges and promises. Embark on a journey to discover the natural masterpieces sculpted by water over millennia, such as the caves of Messalit, as well as human creations like dams and Khettaras. This itinerary, starting from Agadir, is truly a return to the source reserved for those who seek escape and a change of scenery.

  • 08:00: Departure from Agadir by car to reach the city of Taroudant through the agricultural plain of Souss.
  • 09:30: Arrival at Medina.
  • 10:30: Head towards Tagmoute via the locality of Ighrem.
  • 10:30 : Enjoy beautiful panoramas of the pisé villages of the Anti-Atlas with panoramic views of peaks exceeding 1600m in altitude.
  • 13:00 : Arrival at the oasis of Tagmoute and lunch with a local host.
  • 15:00 : Stroll through the oasis of Tagmoute along the irrigation canal, which provides a glimpse into the daily life of farmers amidst palm trees and cereal crops.

  • 16:00 : Departure from the oasis to reach the town of Tata, nestled amidst the erosion-carved mountains of the Anti-Atlas.

  • 08:00: Welcome at BIOTO (Bureau of Oasis Tourist Information and Orientation) and explore the available information about the urban commune of Tata and its surroundings.
  • 09:00: Departure on mountain bikes from BIOTO in Tata towards the Messalit caves and the Ighir Oumlal dam. Mountain biking is the most eco-friendly way to discover Tata while taking the time to admire the surrounding landscape.
  • 09:30: Arrival at the Messalit caves, located 7 km north in a canyon along the Tata River. Explore this site filled with stalactites, which is a significant location for hydrogeology in the region.
  • 10:30: Continue the ride to the small dam dating back to the Protectorate period, with its old irrigation canal called the “Seguia de Tiflit.” Follow the canal to the Messalit plain and discover water conservation techniques.
  • 11:30: Head towards the two water sources of Tighremt, “Ain Tighremt” and Agadir Lehna “Ain Afra.” Notice the Khettaras that supply water to the Afra oasis, the life source of the two villages’ oases. Then, depart to Agadir Lehna.
  • 12:30: Enjoy a multi-grain couscous lunch prepared by the women of the Agadir Lehna women’s association. Visit the cooperative and learn about organic grain farming.
  • 15:00: Arrive at “Dar Tanast” in Agadir Lehna and explore this water distribution site, especially “Tanast,” an ancient ingenious system for equitable water distribution. Discover the water retention basin “Tabia Ou Aallou” and the rational water management approach.
  • 16:00: Departure towards the Khettaras of Tata, crossing the oasis. Explore the Khettaras, an ancestral system for water drainage towards the Tata oasis.
  • 17:30: Continue the ride towards the center of Tata, admiring the beautiful mountain landscapes.
  • 18:00: Meet and exchange with the local sustainable development association over Saharan tea.

  • 9h00 : Depart for the mountain oasis of Agouliz, passing through the rural communities of Tiguezmert, Leksabi, and Taghla.
  • 10h00  : Arrive in the village of Agouliz, nestled within a gorge with towering cliffs. Marvel at the diverse landscapes and extraordinary geological formations. Experience a traditional Berber breakfast at a local’s home, engage in cultural exchanges, and discover the oasis way of life.
  • 10h45  : Embark on a scenic hike along the irrigation canal, surrounded by lush and varied vegetation.
  • 12h00  : Reach the water source that nourishes the Agouliz oasis. Be amazed by the impressive waterfalls and a natural pool-like basin.
  • 12h30 : Enjoy a picnic lunch, prepared upon request, by a village resident. Take time to relax and refresh.
  • 14h00  : Head back to the village center.
  • 15h00  : Experience the warm hospitality of a local resident and participate in a Saharan tea ceremony, immersing yourself in the traditional tea-drinking culture.
  • 16h00 : Depart for Tata, passing through the villages of Addis and Taldount.
  • 17h00  : Arrive in Tata and discover the purifying power of water at a traditional hammam. Experience the unique combination of water conservation and well-being in this rejuvenating setting.

  • 09h00  : Depart for the town of Tissint, crossing the clayey paleo-lakes. Continue the journey through vast desert landscapes, including reg areas and an acacia forest. Explore traditional sand encroachment control systems.
  • 10h30  : Arrive in Tissint. Discover the Alaatik waterfall, featuring saltwater cascades where you can take a refreshing swim.
  • 12h30  : Enjoy a home-cooked lunch with a local family in Tissint.
  • 14h30 : Explore the local products of Tissint, particularly the aromatic and medicinal plants. Tissint was once considered the undisputed herbal capital of Morocco. Learn about the production of floral waters, such as rosewater and orange blossom water. Experience an introduction to aromatherapy using essential oils from Tissint. Visit aromatic gardens with a knowledgeable local guide who will share insights into the various plants, spices, infusions, ointments, and traditional remedies.
  • 16h30 : Depart for Foum Zguid. Enjoy dinner and spend the night in Foum Zguid.
